Certainly, you can always tell a Russian Woman by the sunglasses on top of a blonde rinse and a mobile firmly attached to one ear.
Now you might imagine Russian Women do this because they think it looks cool. But the behaviour is deeply and historically ingrained.
Under Communism, Russian factories produced countless millions of pairs of sunglasses. But like many Soviet goods, they were completely useless and you couldn’t see a thing through any of them. However, these glasses developed a practical use when other Soviet factories failed to produce working hairbands.
In the same way, you will notice that Russian Women always hold a mobile phone to one ear when in fact they only ever send text messages. It is simply taking Soviet girls a while to discover that modern products work.

I don’t know if the mobile phone bit is true or not but the Sunglasses/Headband part is definitely true for all of Eastern Europe….not very sure why

I absolutely love these…they are dark which is a plus in sunny Texas. They fit well and are very flattering. The best part is that my grandson says they make me look like a movie star…what could be better than that?
It’s amazing how many bigots (like Yimms) are out there (especially in the US). They are an extraordinary mixture of ignorance, egotism and ethnocentrism, wrapped in obscenity. Somehow they come across as rather sub-human… And the article itself is hilarious! I think that someone Russian told the author this “story” just for kicks and then had a ball when the author took it seriously (I know an American who believed the most outrageous stories his Russian friend told him).
