Russian Bride Guide
If you’re a relatively minor blogger, it’s actually quite nice to get spam. Even if it is thinly disguised as a comment. Yesterday the blog was graced by a visit from Russian Bride Guide, which left a comment on Why Russian Women Don’t Marry Russian Men. I found the comment quite revealing. Quote:
However, for the informed man who knows what he is looking for, he can find a superb, SLIM, sexy wife in Russia.
Capitalising ‘SLIM’ just shows the naive prejudice and obsession with skinny. I think some honestly believe there is some kind of ‘Thin Gene’ in Russia. Hmmmm, maybe the ‘Thin Gene’ was stolen from German laboratories during the war along with Von Braun’s rocket science secrets. Or maybe skinny blondes were developed by the Nazis in South America alongside the Boys From Brazil . . .
Russsian Bride Guide obviously didn’t stay around here long enough to read my cogent explanation of ‘Why Are All Russian Women So Skinny‘. (Which, thankfully, they aren’t.)
And like the fanciful stereotype in the pic - which I snagged from a computer game - they don’t wear torn tights either, even in the height of combat. It just ain’t dyevushka style.
You can be concerned about companies like Russian Bride Guide who are unashamed flesh peddlers, but somehow I find peddling these kind of myths equally upsetting.

Capitalisation of “SLIM” in my former post does not reflect a naive prejudice and obsession with skinny as you suggest; rather an appreciation for women who look after themselves.
The pursuit of slimness (which differs to skinny) is a common denominator in men seeking a mate from Russia and the FSU. In part, this driven by mens despair at the McDonalds munchers one can find at home. Seeking a wife who looks after herself is not a crime; nor should it be.
I am amused by your description of me as an “unashamed flesh peddler” - a clearly untrue statement. One wonders if you did your homework at all before penning your article?

Quick and modest comeback. (please forgive me for stepping in copy Dudu) the mere fact that RB “wrote the book and operates the busiest Russian women information forum on the net ” does not warrant that you are always correct. All it means is that people are very interested in what you have to say regardless if its true or false. Example Hitler . This is in no way a comparison to you as I don’t know you and I am very sure you are not that evil jajaj but an example of how one can have a huge following and still be very wrong.So that argument is not valid. I don’t disagree with you completely as there is some truth to your comments for example, men do tend to look for slimmer girls. Unfortunately they are not well informed. I believe that for the informed man that is looking for a Russian bride should consider that SLIM , sexy or even young devushka will not guarantee him a faithful ,trustworthy and loving partner. This may not drag as many men to your web site, or might not be a big attention grabber /selling point compared to (Thin and Sexy) but this qualities are extremely important in finding your life partner.
The second false is, that slim Russian women look after themselves(NET!). That may be the case in some Russian girls but the truth is that most are thin because of 2 realities in Russia. The first is that cooking fresh products at home is still the norm in Russia. Hot freshly cooked meals, like soups and meats from free roaming chickens ,grass eating cows freshly caught fish (by the Volga perhaps yumm) with locally or home grown SEASONAL ( NOT FROZEN ) organic vegetables. Please! Don’t compare Our American corn eating ,hormone protein supplemented ,antibiotics,Pesticide and fertilizer run off ,tightly penned together over a pile of shit Cow meat we have in my county. !OFF COURSE AMERICA IS FAT!Do you need to be a mad cow disease scientist to inform us about this or can we figure this out by ourselves. When you bring your slim, sexy devuska to America make sure you let her do the cooking and if she loves meat, bye organic .
