Dating Agency Banners

DAB1

I’d like to think people read this blog but - Google analytics do not lie.

I have tried to write lyrically about the poured cementscape of Kaliningrad, nostalgically about Lenin’s archived slippers, and appetisingly about the delights of Baltic Sprats.

Alas, it cannot be denied. All people want to read about is Russian Women. Russian Women - RWs or R-dubs as we expats call them - will dongle the google off the stat counter. The mere digiwhisper of Russian Women appears to ping the central nervous operating system of the Internet. I recently googled for old Soviet cars and a Volga Owner’s Club handbook. Google answered, ‘Did you mean the Olga Owner’s Club?’

Recently, while just 12 (twelve) people studiously read my piece about an old Russian panoramic camera, the ‘Soviet Women FAQs’ for that day registered 1,533 page hits. Sadly, only 1,532 of these visitors realised it was an attempt at humour.

You can argue that English sarcasm is only ever an attempt at humour. All the same, perhaps I am missing a trick here and it’s time to include some related advertising banners on my site. You know, just for that shred of cred that sponsorship brings.

I’ll admit, I have been fascinated by Russian Dating Agency banners and I’m sure that, with a suitable Photoshop makeover, the genre could become a minor art form. A couple of my first attempts this afternoon are shown below.

Naturally, being a shameless, commie loving bastard, I will not code any banner clicks to link to a real commercial site. I thought of linking them to, say, hmmm . . Nadya Krupskaya’s on-line memoirs? Or perhaps linking all 1,533 potential daily banner clicks to La Russophobe’s site. What do you think? We are talking naive Americans here.

Any graphic banner suggestions from my regular readers are welcome. Advertisers are also welcome to send in any banners and I promise I will gallery them all here in an upcoming Hall Of Shame feature.

  • Copydude,

The truth hurts, 90% of my readers come from googling the search term “devushka” and msn images “boobies.” You might want to rethink your posting strategy. Just a thought.

    Best,

  • hmmm, russian brides sponsored by western union? i bet the site offers sending gifts to lovely ladies :)
to be honest, i did visit one of the sites with russian women/brides theme, but i never looked at the banner section. in fact they don’t have a speciffic and unique banner, it’s just the name of the site. but these you had shown here are really funny and they all have a sort of communist symbolics. the last one reminded me of the great patriotic war when soldiers were called ˝sons of mother russia˝.

btw, google sometimes gives strange results. for example, when i tried to find info about old british movie ˝boys from brazil˝, google listed sites about gay boys from brazil and no words about the movie. similar happened when trying to find info about karolina Å¡prem (croatian women tennis player) and google answered: ˝did you mean karolina sperm?˝…. it’s all about the words :)

  • I support the redirection proposal. Honour where honour is due!

How about a post updating us on Mother Heroine of the Soviet Union for those with 10 kids (and not even Catholic). There must be a beauty contest in there somewhere. Or downsizing for the 21st century 5 kids only?

  • I really enjoy reading Dating Agency Banners | copydude . It’s very interesting. Hope you will post something like this again.

  • Hi - It’s good to read such topical stuff on the Internet as I have been able to discover here. I agree with much of what is written here and I’ll be coming back to this site again. Thanks again for posting such great reading material!!
