All The Colours Of Autumn
It was a wonderful Autumn in Novgorod. The russety rust colours tinged all the shades of evening shadows. Click for bigger images.
Sometimes, green refuses to turn to brown.
An autumnal Lada taxi speeds past my window into town. Why? Nothing ever happens in Novgorod.
A Russian girl dyes her hair ‘autumn’. At least the sunset is real.

Ha! I think that hair color is known as “CIS Red.”
Yes why is it that hair dyes produce stronger colours in the CIS (and also Eastern Europe)? Experience of my own suggests that hairdressers leave the colour on twice as long. Has anyone ever asked the dyevushkas?
In my experience, the girls never go to hairdressers. Some friends come round with tinfoil and industrial marigolds. The hair is poked through holes in the foil and then they all join in for a paint and a gossip.
By the way, CB, it says ‘Chestnut’ on the pack.
